An Attempt at Thanksgiving Post and a Prize Draw

I am unclear this year whether to be or not to be thankful for a lot of things. But there is something I have no doubts about: I am thankful for my friends. For those who have known me for 15 years, and are still my friends, despite that, and still hold my hand when the going gets tough. And for friends I made in recent years through this perfume obsession, and who became not just hobby-mates, but real friends. I am thankful to them for holding my hand too...and for bearing perfume gifts. Thank you, L, for ...everything!... and for vintages and rarities that you so generously share with me... Gianni Versace (original) is a stunner! Thank you, M, for being there for me, your sturdy presence is a comfort and a pleasure... and for forcing me to smell introducing me to the world of real oudhs (as opposed to, say, Montale ouds, much adapted to the Western tastes) and to Quand Vient La Pluie. Thank you, J, for leathers, vetivers and vintages. Thank you, N, for all the exclusives that I would have never smelled were it not for your kindness (Montale Deluziont des Femmes, I am looking at you). Thank you, девы, девочки, бриллиантовые донны, on my favorite Russian perfume forum for talking to me about perfume and other things in my native language (and, M, I treasure my Farenheit-alike Ultima II!).

And thank you, dear readers, for reading and commenting. Let's celebrate the coming Thanksgiving with a prize draw. If you would like to win a bottle of Kenzo Winter Flowers, please say so in your comment. Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Columbina, dear,
I'm blushing as deeply as a red, red rose (I mean as darkly as an Indian oud) ;-)
I hope the coming year brings many, many things for which you will be joyously thankful. I treasure our friendship and hope there will be many moments of happiness and wonder that we will exultantly share in times to come!

M, I don't do the "official" T'giving celebrations, however, it really is a time I like to stop and not just think about what I'm grateful for throughout the year, but make sure I actually voice it. And my immense gratitude for close friends and loved ones definitely tops my list. One of the great surprises of my life has been making such incredible friends in cyberspace through my perfume addiction. ((((((M))))))) And you have to realize that apart from all the excellent information and brilliant writing, one of the reasons people consistently return to and love your blog is that it is so abundantly clear what a wonderful person is behind it.

Hi Marina! I don't know the trials you've faced this year, but I hope and pray things are better and that God blesses you greatly for your beautiful heart and spirit. Yes, we need our friends! Aren't they great? I offer my friendship to you, too. Call/email me anytime, and if you ever need to run away, you have a place to stay. :-)

I love reading your blog. Thank you for maintaining it and for giving us a bit of joy to read each day.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! No need to enter me in the draw. I'm feeling overwhelmed with scents at the moment. Need to catch up. Ha ha.

hi it's lunarose.

what a sweet musing on the beauty of friends! i'm always thankful for people keeping up blogs, so several times a week there's some new ideas to contemplate in the mornings whilst i'm waiting for the motrin to kick in and take the edge off the chronic pain.....yikes! but it really is a very generous thing to do for strangers and we appreciate it.

please enter me in the draw as well. i have to go smell this one, i love the fragrance of hellebores and am interested to see what they did with/about it.

I'm not trying to be melodramatic, but this year, I am especially thankful for all the normals - friends, family, health, etc - but even more so during such challenging times for the entire world with the global recession, famines, wars, natural disasters, etc, that I live in a time/place where I can spend my free time enjoying such a pastime as fragrance. Fragrance! Not food, or water, or shelter....enjoying what most Americans assume to be "normal" -- hot showers, good books, good food, good art, good movies. How thankful can one person be to have a nice stable life that affords the passtime of beautiful fragrances? I am glad I have a wonderful sense of smell, and great blogs like PST to do my research too! I am indeed very thankful.

Please enter me into the contest.

Happy holidays!

I’m thankful for so much, but to keep it relevant, I’ll stick to the subject of scent.

I’m thankful to the girl that gave my first taste of a great scent (Musc Ravageur).

I’m thankful to the girls at The Perfumed Court, who answered all my stupid questions, were sooo helpful, and will always get business from me.

I’m thankful that the new girl in my life has more perfumes than I do, all of them are amazing, and she’s willing to share.

I’d love to be in on the prize draw – Winter Flowers is a Kenzo that neither of us has. :D

Happy Thanksgiving. I hope it’s wonderful.

Happy belated Thanksgiving!!! At the T-dinner we attended, someone told Mr. Lily that when he put on his fisherman's cap, he looked liked Lenin----and I thought of you! In addition to the quirky Lenin-doubling Mr. Lily, I am grateful for you--for your intelligence, wit, knowledge, and warmth. I miss you!!
